A few months after my son was born, I was lying awake at 3 a.m. It wasn’t because of him, but because I couldn’t stop thinking.

Like a lot of new parents, I didn’t have a will. I hadn’t named a guardian. I kept putting it off, telling myself I’d get to it eventually. That night, I realized eventually might be too late.
I started talking to friends, expecting they had it all figured out. Almost none of them had a plan either. These were smart, responsible people, but they felt stuck or overwhelmed, just like I did.
I looked into getting it done the traditional way. I don’t have an attorney. I don’t have the time to talk to attorneys, pass documents back and forth, and wait weeks for something that should be simple. It is 2025. I needed it now.
